Amazing Twin Audio Visualizer to the rescue

Posted on June 17, 2022 by Mark Donners

This Twin Audio Visualizer is nothing other than amazing. It includes a Teensy microcontroller board that drives 2 displays simultaneously at a very high speed. Combined with a Teensy Audio Board, it is capable of doing a frequency analysis of the Audio in realtime to create a Stereo spectrum analyzer of 69 Channels.

Yep you understood me correctly! 69 channels in stereo…so that’s actually 138 frequency bins. On top of that, we will be displaying a stereo VU meter on the second display. So more or less we are really dealing with 140 channels.

This video is sponsored by @PCBWay They make great PCB board and offer good assembly service. Check out the website at https://www.pcbway.com/

With age, soldering is becoming harder and harder on the eyes. I good microscope for soldering is an absolute must have and I don’t have one yet. If you have an idea on a good one or you want me to try one, please contact me.

🕮 Manual: There is no manual for this version with two displays but the extra function is limited to the extra button that can be pressed to change the input channel Mic/Line-in. All other function remain untouched. Please refer the the manual of the original sketch by DIY-lab.

How does the coffee taste? I hope that 7 cups will not be a little higher, just a joke.

I want to DIY, but I can’t find the PCB file download for the audio board. Since I am in China, it is difficult for me to buy audio boards on that website.

      Hi Toms Lee,
Coffee taste fine thank you very much!
For the audio visualizer, I only designed the backplane. the gerber files can be downloaded here:

However, you are referring to the teensy audio board, that is a oem product…
I didn’t design it. I know the schematics are out there….but as a fact, I also know that the audio chip on it is not available or hard to get because of the chip shortage.
In fact, my first pcb design didn’t use the audio board and I integrated the audio chip in my own design but because of the shortage, I had to switch to the audio board.

I read the website introduction. Is this TFT?
I have another idea. Is it better to use OLED?

Thank you very much for your reply.

This chip may be available in China. Where can I download your integrated PCB?

Thanks very much to Mr. Mark Donners for his tireless help. I succeeded in debugging. Now I will design a box to place this beautiful audio analysis display.
